My name is Cameron and I am a bisexual community organizer. I run a blog on Tumblr and the Bi/Pan Pride Facebook group.
In January of 2012, shortly after moving to Portland, Oregon, I helped to start a monthly bi/pansexual conversation group at the local LGBTQ community center.
I am fortunate to be a part of what has become a flourishing bi community. We throw parties, have potlucks, picnics, organize pride events, and it's all been made possible because of a simple conversation group.
Several regulars from our group decided that we would get together once a month and offer guidance to bisexuals in need, or those who want to understand more about bisexuality. We set up an e-mail address and a Facebook page so that anyone in the world can ask for help, advice, or insight. Every month we will choose a submission to discuss and then post the conversation that ensues right here on bibrigade.org.
I started Bi Brigade because I want to share the incredible experience of being in a bisexual community with the world. I want to inspire people to seek out and create bisexual communities in their local areas. Almost every time a new person attends our discussion group, they describe the sensation of being in a room full of "people like them" for the first time. Bisexuals generally suffer from isolation, and the ability to consult a community of like-minded people is invaluable for one's mental health and well-being.
So welcome to our community. Join our conversation today! The first submission we choose will be used in the filming of a YouTube video that will promote Bi Brigade and be circulated on social media. We're excited to hear from you.
